Michaela Šrůmová was born in Prague, where she studied solo singing at the Prague State Conservatory under the guidance of Prof. Olga Jiráková. During her studies she further developed her artistic profile at the Summer Masterclasses of Early Music in Valtice, led by the British professor James Griffis.

After completing her studies, she successfully took part in the Emmy Destinn International Singing Competition in České Budějovice. She became a regular guest of the FOK Concert Management and participated, among other projects, in a live recording of the revived Czech premiere of Gluck’s opera Ezio, performing the role of Emperor Valentinian.

An important milestone in her career was the portrayal of Princess Drahomíra in the world premiere of the oratorio Saint Wenceslas by composer Martin Kumžák. She also attended masterclasses led by the world-renowned Argentine tenor José Cura.

She regularly appears at prestigious music festivals throughout the Czech Republic, performing both in concert repertoire and opera productions. Internationally, she has given concerts in Germany, France, Sweden, Japan, Egypt, Poland, and Slovakia.

Throughout her artistic career, she has collaborated with many distinguished conductors, including Helmut Rilling, Ondrej Dohnányi, Jan Talich, Tomáš Netopil, Robert Válek, Zdeněk Müller, Václav Luks, Petr Vronský, Andrea Scarano, Marek Štryncl, Vojtěch Spurný, Ondrej Lenárd, Iván Denés, Jaroslav Kyzlink, Tomáš Brauner, and Masaki Izaki. She has also worked with leading ensembles such as the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic, Czech Ensemble Baroque Orchestra, Talich Chamber Orchestra, Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic, Hradec Králové Philharmonic, Košice State Philharmonic, South Bohemian Chamber Philharmonic, the Egyptian Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, and Capella da Camera.

At the National Theatre in Prague she prepared roles in the operas Jenůfa, Idomeneo, Káťa Kabanová, Rusalka, Gloriana, and The Cunning Little Vixen. She also appeared as a guest artist at the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Plzeň, performing the role of Anna Reich in Otto Nicolai’s opera The Merry Wives of Windsor.

She has also performed at Prague’s Studio Ypsilon in the musical comedy Find Mozart, inspired by Mozart’s The Magic Flute, in the role of Pamina.

Upon invitation by the Egyptian Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, she appeared as a soloist at the New Year’s Gala Concert in Cairo with a programme of famous Viennese operettas by Franz Lehár, Emmerich Kálmán, and Johann Strauss, a repertoire to which she frequently returns.

She has collaborated as well with the prominent composer and pianist Karel Růžička (Celebration Jazz Mass) and for many years has been engaged in projects of film music in cooperation with the Film Symphony Orchestra and Barrandov Studio, both in the Czech Republic and abroad.
